First of all let's set the scene: Matt's in Grand Rapids schmoozing some Schmoozy Van Schmoozersmas and playing tennis, sleeping in, eating the best mom-cooked food you could possibly want, and loving the attention from my parents.
Here's how the day started out: if you don't know, I teach powerwalking in the morning to college kids. That would be an outdoor class. I don't have a sitter for this morning because Matt thinks that I'm Wonder Woman and can handle two kids and class. After all, I'm just walking with my classes. Well, as I mentioned earlier, it is to college kids and they do get credit for it and I do actually teach useful things and give exams in this particular class. This morning I was to review for our exam, hand back log books, and then walk. No big deal, even with my children. A few situations to consider... Situation number one: children get up at 7:30 and my class starts at 8. Situation number two: Children need to eat. Situation number three: It's raining. Hard. Situation number four: another professor threw out her back, wants me to combine her classes with mine. Sure no problem. I'm Wonder Woman, remember? Situation number four in detail: Circuit Training in a small gym with 70 college students, two children under three, and one professor. I must say, I did live up to Matt's expectations this morning!
But anyway, getting to the good part...the kids and I had a great day filled with lots of good belly-laughing tickling, coloring, baseball, basketball, let's-roll-the-ball-into-a-kid-and-see-if-they-stay-standing, and of course puzzles.
Tonight. Oh tonight. I had some girlfriends coming over for some yummy homemade apple pie at 8, so I did dinner and cleaned up and headed for the bath thinking that I was right on track for the kids sleeping by the time the girls came over. Bathtime was actually a riot. Matthew likes to blow bubbles (with his face this time, and I only mention it because sometimes they come out the other end) and Natalie stuck her face in the water and blew bubbles too! This made Matthew laugh hysterically. I took Natalie out after she was all done bubbling and dried her up, lotioned her, and got her in her jammies. Phone rings. It's my dad. And Matt. They are going on about all the wonderful food they've been eating and the sleep they've been getting, and blah blah blah SPLASH! What!?!? Oh no she didn't! Yes she did! She walked to the bath, rolled over the side and got right back in.
Yes. That precious face did that. I had to laugh. She was so cute all wet in her P.J.'s sucking on her binky, looking at me with huge eyes as Matthew is laughing and trying to tell me that she climbed into the bathtub with her clothes on and that she's all wet.
But, being the Wonder Woman that I am, the kids were in bed and she was sleeping and he was talking to himself by the time my friends came over. I do love my life and take none of this for granted.

Wonder Woman's got nothing on you, Rebecca! I don't think that Wonder Woman and Superman COMBINED would have the power to teach 70 kids in that small gym! :)
Wow! Do you want to borrow my pink Super Girl shirt? I'm impressed with all you got done that day. And to still be in a good mood after....impressive.
