We had a wonderful time with Grandpop last weekend. We went to our favorite places together: the Eastern Gym, the King of Prussia Mall, and Champps. He also ate at his favorite cheesesteak and pizza place, so I'd call this trip a success! He got to see two basketball games while he was here. And a first - two wins!!! There's a myth that my dad brings losses, but he proved the skeptics wrong. The curse is broken! The team is now 3-1, so we're off to a good start. We loved having you here, Dad. Come back soon!
This past weekend the basketball team played at Dickinson near Harrisburg. I thought I would have to do some serious entertaining for the kids during the games, so I brought two backpacks full of food and books and toys. We started out with a Starbucks marshmallow square and then soon discovered something behind the curtain...a huge crash mat! Matthew ran, jumped, flipped and played all game. He was a rosy-cheeked, static-haired mess by the time the game was over! We went to the hotel after the game and he was asleep within 20 minutes. He played his little heart out. The half scowl-half I'm-trying-not-to-laugh was directed at me when he was jumping on the mat and mid-jump I took his legs out from underneath him. He said, "Mommy that is NOT NICE!" Then we both busted up laughing. Natalie played on the mat during pre-game and half-time but stayed with me watching and clapping and smiling at the team from her stroller during the game.

Oh my goodness! It's like a playground wonderland! I want to jump on that. :)
Mmmmmmmm....I'm jealous of that big rice krispie treat thing. Looks good. Natalie is going to make a great future cheerleader. And how could your dad ever be bad luck??
Rebecca, I'm disappointed you called that beautiful pole vault pit a "crash mat". It deserves much more respect! :-) But I am a little bias toward that sport.
I can't even imagine taking 2 kids to a game by myself. Thank goodness for small blessings like crash mats! Ahhh, the joy of being a coach's wife, and having kids that are gym rats, right?
