These days I have a rediculously difficult time bending down to put shoes on, let alone tie the laces without some sort of perverse noise coming out of me. Usually it's just a loud grunt, but I wouldn't stand behind me, just to be safe. Back to trying to put on shoes...so I'm at the point where I have to sit down a.k.a. "flop down" on the couch and then pull on my pant leg in order to get my foot up on my other knee. From this point I tie my shoe laces, working around the belly, grunting, and end up with the bows tied on the insides of my feet, so they rub against each other when I walk. Not attractive.
So seeing as I can't reach my feet very well, my friends thought I needed a pedicure. How right they were. Especially after I sat in the exam room, with the "sheet" that they provide you for covering - which neither covers nor is 1000-count - for 45 minutes for the doctor to come in. Unacceptable, I know. I was texting Matt to tell him to call the front desk and make sure they knew I was still in an exam room WAITING. Those exam tables are not comfortable for pregnant women. Ironic, I know, seeing as it is an OB office. So as I'm sitting there, my cankles are swelling and swelling and throbbing and throbbing. I can't get down off of the table because if male doctor comes in, I have to hop back on the exam table with my "sheet" and I'm afraid of the noises and things that would occur. While I'm waiting, I get a text from my friend that suggests a pedicure tonight. Dear friends, I love you. I'm going to have the pedicure people rub real hard to hopefully start labor, but male doctor says he thinks I might "hold on to this baby for a while" after my due date. Not something I wanted to hear.
So we got our pedicures and my feet look fabulous. I mean, I have to have my feet look pretty for pushing! I chose a chocolatey color - OPI "I'm Fondue of you" - to help me think about wonderful, delicious, soothing things like chocolate while I'm going through the most difficult part.

I LOVE your sense of humor! Not sure if it's a good thing, but I can totally visualize you in each one of those situations. :) Love ya! You're in my thoughts and prayers as you enter into this "homestretch".
What good friends, you deserve it! I like your reasoning on the color choice as well. FYI - in Europe they don't give you any sort of robe or sheet at all. You just have to walk pantless from the changing room to the "stirrup" chair, and just hang out as nature made you. :)
Oh Mama knows! I feel all of your pain and also agree that a sense of humor is key! Looking forward to hearing the good news very soon, hang in there!!!!
