Snow Day!!!

We're expected to get 2 feet of snow here. So far we've gotten about a foot. Matt and I have both shoveled twice just to keep up with it. The TV news anchors have all of our unmentionables in a bunch over the impending snow. Last night before anything had fallen, they were "strongly urging" no one to get out of their houses. PennDot (Pennsylvania Department of Transportation) was advising the public to only use the roads if it is an "extreme emergency". Gimme a break, it's just not the Midwest. People freak out here! They don't know how to drive and the plows are on their own time-schedule and its like pin-the-tail-on-the-donkey as to which roads they choose to plow. Basketball games have even been cancelled due to forcasts, not even true storms. Which is rediculous for two reasons: 1) Everyone here on the Main Line has one, if not two SUVs - complete with pinstriped monogramming on the side - but don't know how to drive them or switch to 4-wheel drive. 2) Wild horses couldn't keep Michiganders and Indianders from their beloved tri-weekly tradition! It's High School on Tues/Fri and College on Wed/Sat, so I'm factoring in one college away game a week.
So anyways, the snow. The sweat. My sweat. Trying to find all of the boots, gloves, hats, scarves, jackets, snowpants, I-have-to-go-potty-mommy while we're half-dressed, what am I going to do with the baby now that we've been at this for 55 minutes and she needs a nap? It's a work-out. We finally made it out after OVER an hour of assembling, disassembling and re-assembling the outfits.
We really did have a great time. The kids aren't used to the snow since we only get about one storm a season. Matthew thinks its still okay to ride the tricycle...
Natalie wanted to swim in the snow...
We did get to do traditional thing like snow angels...

and catching snowflakes on our tongues...

Libby truly enjoyed her first experience with snow...

Now that the kids are up from a 2 1/2 hour nap, we're going to do it all over again!

Love the snow gear! And I remember being out east during snow storms, and I totally agree! I think they just poured sand on the snow, then it froze, and was a total mess in the spring! Happy holidays;)

Totally cracked me up. That seems like an awful lot of effort for a little playing in the snow, but obviously it was worth it. The kids look they had a great time. Although I'd prefer to be like Libby!
